Welcome to our family blog about our journey to a simpler life. Where we homeschool, we raise animals, we grow food, we believe in ole fashion family values, we limit technology, and most of all where we put God first. We are not perfect and we don't pretend to be. We go through hard times, but look to God for our strength. Join us as we embrace this crazy, simple, homesteading life.

Fridge, Icebox, Refridgerator, no matter what you call it, it has one purpose to keep food cold. Well, I am going to give a few things that you should always keep in your icebox.
1. Eggs 2. Milk 3. Heavy Whipping Cream 4. Butter and Margarine 5. Cheese 6. Ketchup, Mustard, Mayo 7. Assortment of Veggies 8. Sour Cream 9. Cream Cheese 10. BBQ sauce
Now basics for the Freezer! Chicken is always a great meat to have on hand. You can make so many dishes if you have Chicken. Chicken tacos, Chicken Enchiladas, Chicken and Rice, Chicken Carbonara, Chicken and dumplings, Chicken quesadillas, Chicken noodle soup.
Do you realize the short pantry and refridgerator lists I gave you can accommodate all of these recipes.I am telling you, once you learn how to stock and keep stocked, you will not ever have a problem if you forget to take something out for supper.
When I shop now, I only have to replenish. Not start over! I takes sometime to learn how to plan and think ahead, but in time you will get it.
Soon shopping will be fun, not just a chore!!!!

What's in your pantry? Can you make a complete meal out of what you have? Well friends, here is a list to start you off. These are just a few of the items every pantry should have.
1. Flour 2. Sugar 3. Oil 4. Cornstarch 5. Spices 6. Shortening 7. Bread crumbs 8. Rice 9. Beans 10. Cornmeal 11. Tomato sauce 12. diced tomatoes 13. Cream of mushroom, cream of chicken, and cream of celery soups 14. Chicken and beef broth 15. Assortment of Pastas 16. yeast
Spanish Rice, Refried beans, flour tortillas, bread, are a few things you can make from this list.
The stocking of your pantry is a very important part of saving money. The better your pantry is stocked the more homemade dishes you can make, the more money you can save. Even though you think that you are saving time and money buying boxed foods, in the long run your not. Plus, think about all the perservatives that are in those boxes. There are many more items to add to this list. Check back to see more items for the pantry and we will also be working on stocking that fridge.
